The Lost Angels Fund was created to honor all the angels lost to live event tragedies, and to support their families who remain. A coalition founded by BUDDY and joined by a number of non-profit organizations in the music industry already doing the work — AFEM, EMA, NTIA — this initiative will support and fund grassroots frontline programs that improve safety across the live entertainment and nightlife industries.
It’s about collective responsibility — and the belief that everyone has a role to play: from artists and promoters to venues, fans and tech innovators
What the fund supports:
-
Direct aid to families impacted by crowd-related event tragedies
-
Grassroots safety initiatives and training programs
-
Awareness campaigns promoting a proactive safety culture in nightlife and live entertainment

“At the Night Time Industries Association, we’ve long championed the idea that safety must be part of the culture, not an afterthought. That’s why I fully support BUDDY’s Lost Angels Fund—a forward-thinking initiative leading the way in fan care, education, and wellbeing.”
— Michael Kill, CEO, NTIA
“No matter the setting, safety should be part of the culture we build, rather than an afterthought. This is why we are so proud of the initiative Lost Angels Fund our member BUDDY is creating, leading from the front in fan safety and providing useful education and resources for electronic music fans.”
— Finlay Johnson, COO, Association for Electronic Music (AFEM)
“I’ve spent years working on event safety standards—and nearly as long facilitating community conversations around death through a local gathering I host each year. That work has taught me that remembrance and reform go hand in hand. The Lost Angels Fund isn’t just about safety—it’s about honoring lives, holding space for grief, and helping shape a culture that truly cares.”
— Janine Jordan, Founder, Electronic Music Alliance (EMA)
Claire Wright, Founder of BUDDY, lost a friend at a rave in the '90s. That loss became a lifelong commitment to fan safety, working with organizations like ESTA and EMA to improve standards. BUDDY’s patented technology helps fans stay connected — even without cell service — to reduce risk when it matters most.
“We didn’t build BUDDY to capitalize on tragedy — we built it because we’ve lived it. Fans deserve to feel safe and free at live events. That doesn’t have to be a contradiction. It just takes commitment.”
